SACM underscores media role in resolution of public woes

Newly-appointed Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister (SACM) on Information and Special Initiatives Hasaan Khawar has said that journalism is an important pillar of the state and positive media reporting provides an opportunity for the government to reform its policies.

The SACM was speaking during an introductory meeting with media persons in the committee room of DGPR here on Tuesday.

Secretary Information and Culture Raja Jahangir Anwar and DGPR Saman Rai were also present on the occasion. He said that the importance of journalism is an undeniable fact because positive journalism acts as catalyst for better decision-making to resolve social and administrative problems.

During the meeting, Hasaan Khawar said that identification of social problems and proposals for their resolutions would always be welcomed, underscoring that at the same time it is also responsibility of the media to highlight the government efforts and initiatives aim at welfare of the public.

Hasaan Khawar said that his doors are always open for the media persons and they could contact him anytime for the government’s stance about any issue.

Later on, SACM Hasaan Khawar met with officers of the DGPR and said the Punjab government under the leadership of CM Usman Buzdar has been serving the masses and a significant improvement in health, education and other sectors is quite visible.

Now it’s our responsibility to spotlight the services, performance and achievements of the government, he added.

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Col (r) Hashim Dogar said that provision of quality education is the top priority of the government. “Giving respect to teachers and education is our thinking, which is also included in our manifesto.” Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Col (r) Hashim Dogar was speaking at a ceremony organized by All Pakistan Private Schools Association, in connection with World Teachers Day.

Renowned senior journalist and analyst Mubashir Luqman also attended the ceremony. The minister said that whatever he is today, is just because of his teachers efforts.” Teachers play major role in making one’s life. I salute all the teachers who on this precious day of teachers.”
