In a bid to resolve the controversy of moon sighting and the announcement of Ramazan and the Eids, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan of Ministry of Religious Affairs has been considering to include Mufti Popalzai of Qasim Ali Khan Mosque Peshawar in the committee.
Sources said that committee members in the Ruet-e-Hilal opined ‘mufti Popalzai should be on the list of committee members.
The sources claimed that the name of Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai can be included in the committee in a few days.
Reportedly, the incumbent Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir last year expressed his willingness to use scientific knowledge in moon sighting within the limits of Shariah in order to end repeated controversies surrounding religious festivals such as Eids.—INP
