On the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Planning and Develop-ment Board Punjab have accorded ap-proval of Rs. 488 million for construc-tion of protective band along eastern side of the River Chenab to save thou-sands of acre land and different villag-es situated alongside the River Chenab from erosion. This was revealed by the Deputy Director Development Hafiza-bad Tasawar Abbas, on Friday.
He said that during the flood in the River Chenab, hundreds of acre agri-culture land and homes of farmers had been eroded since long.
He said that with the construction of studs and protective bund along the River Chenab, not only erosion would be stopped but farmers also be saved from heavy damages.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Sundas Irshad directed the officers concerned to ensure implement on ap-proved excel load on goods transport in the district and take strict action against violators of excel load policy of the government for saving roads from damages.
She issued these directions while ad-dressing a meeting held to review ar-raignments regarding implementation on fixed excel load directions of the government.
Secretary Regional Transport Authority Ishfaq Rasul, Executive Engineer Highway Rana Shahid Mehmood, DO Emergency Muhammad Adnan Nawaz and other officers attended the meet-ing.
DC also directed the Highway Officers to past sign board inscribed with in-struction regarding fixed excel load for creating awareness among people par-ticularly drivers and transporters in the district.
