Punjab government announced to roll out Roshan Gharana Program across the region, and thousands of solar panels will be distributed among the common people.
Under the initiative, more than 50,000 solar systems will be distributed to deserving families. In the latest development, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz directed immediate launch of the pilot project aimed at installing solar systems.
Roshan Gharana Scheme
Power consumers using up to 100 units of electricity will be able to get solar system for discounted rates. Each van-based solar system will include two solar panels, batteries, an inverter, and cables for installation.
The solar systems will be able to run fans, lights, small motors, and other appliances, helping households meet their energy needs. Beneficiaries, particularly those consuming up to 100 units monthly, will be selected through a lottery system in the initial phase.
It was reported that lithium iron batteries will be used in this system and it could offer backup power for up to 16 hours. The government mentioned emphasizing installing solar systems with the latest technology, emphasizing the use of high-quality solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other equipment.
CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted gradual expansion of solar system program for residential consumers. The goal of Roshan Punjab program is to ease the burden of costly electricity bills for low-income individuals.
This initiative not only aims to cut electricity costs but also promotes sustainable energy practices, aiding in environmental conservation. Additionally, it encourages technological progress and enables households to become self-sufficient in their energy use.
