Pakistan and Romania enjoy close friendly relations based on mutual trust and cooperation. In order to further boost these relations, both the countries need to broaden their trade, tourism, cultural and education ties.
These views were expressed by CEO and Chairman of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik in a meeting with the Charge d’Affaires of Romania, Mr Eduard-Robert Preda who called on him at his office here on Thursday.
In order to further strengthen the bond of friendship, both the countries need to enhance people-to-people (p-to-p) and business-to-business (b-to-b) linkages particularly in education, culture and journalism, said Mr Faisal Zahid Malik while welcoming the Romanian dignitary in his office.
Pakistan he said valued its relations with Romania which is an important member of the European Union (EU) and has robust trade with Pakistan.
Romania’s Charge d’AffairesMr Eduard Preda while thanking Mr Faisal Zahid Malik termed Pakistan Observer an important newspaper of Pakistan carrying out the noble mission of disseminating information in a professional manner. Pakistan Observer has always highlighted issues of public interest and for that the whole team of Pakistan Observer deserves appreciation, he said.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan’s annual exports to Romania are around US$50 million while the imports from Romania are worth US$ 82 million. There is still a huge potential to further increase trade between the two countries, said Mr Faisal Malik.

Ambassador Preda also spoke about the defence cooperation between the two countries and referred to the 3rd patrol vessel for the Pakistan Navy built at Damen Shipyard Galati, Romania.
The vessel would provide the Pakistani Navy with highly effective search and rescue capabilities that would allow it to play an important role in safeguarding international trade routes from piracy and other threats like drugs and human trafficking or terrorism, he said.
Last year between February 10 and 14, Romania participated in the 9th edition of the multinational naval exercise AMAN 2023, conducted by the Pakistan Naval Forces, held in the Arabian Sea, with 50 participating countries, he said.
The exercise helped participating navies to exchange their experience and knowledge and provided a platform to the participants to nurture their maritime capabilities. At the end of the meeting, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik presented a bouquet of flowers to the visiting dignitary and showed him various sections of the newspaper.
