Indian army personnel started committing suicides due to various psychological diseases and a rising trend of suicides among the Indian Army raised alarm bells.

On March 27, an officer of the Indian Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force committed suicide in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir as per the Kashmir Media Service.

A Central Reserve Force (CRF) official ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle.

This is not the first incident of suicide by Indian forces in Held Valley as many incidents of suicide were reported already. Kashmir Media Service claimed that since 2007 more than 596 Indian soldiers have committed suicide in the occupied valley owing to Modi government’s poor policies amid deteriorating mental stress.

Reuters reported currently half of the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir are under severe tension.

Kashmir Media Service reported 38-year-old Naik Harish Chandra Singh of the Indian Army, who committed suicide in Udhampur district on November 16, belonged to 31 Rashtriya Rifles. On November 15, 2023, Indian soldier Rajendra Singh shot himself in Hyderabad, as reported by Times of India (TOI). Indian and international media have expressed concern over the increasing trend of suicides among the occupied Indian army in Occupied Kashmir.—NNI
