District police Wednesday claimed to have arrested ring leader of a criminal gang involved in motorcycle lifting and distortion in the area. Addressing a press conference along with DSP headquarters Iqbal Baloch at his office, District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada said that acting on a tip off, a police party headed by SHO Mulazai police station Faheem Marwat and supervised by DSP Iqbal Baloch cordoned off a tube well in Mulazai village.
He noted that the proclaimed offender Noman started firing at police and later surrender to police after he failed to escape from the scene. Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada informed that police recovered a Kalashnikov, hand grenade and a spyglass from the possession of the detained PO and added that the culprit was wanted by police in 12 different cases of murder, distortion and motorcycle lifting and he was heading a criminal gang in the area that had been involved in different crimes.
Responding to a question regarding increasing robbery attempts in the city, the DPO said that the police would soon give the citizens a surprise and produce the culprits involved in the dacoities. He maintained that establishment of two new police stations in the district would help the police to counter the crimes more effectively, asserting the proposal for establishing new police stations had been submitted to the provincial authorities.
