Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi arrived at Karachi Fish Harbour on Thursday where Chairman Fishermen’s Cooperative Society Abdul Berr received the distinguished guest. Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi accompanied by FCS Chairman Abdul Berr visited the Marine Fisheries Department. While Deputy Director Quality Control Miss Shazia and Deputy Director Abdul Jabbar Mirani briefed Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi on working of the organization. Zaidi accompanied by Chairman Abdul Berr visited various departments of Marine Fisheries Department. Ali Haider Zaidi issued instructions to make the Marine Fisheries Department more effective and functioning better. Later, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi along with Chairman inspected the floating jetty at Karachi Fish Harbour. Abdul Berr told Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi that a safety wall for small launches is to be constructed here for the construction of which we have sought permission from Karachi Port Trust. Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi said that you should immediately start construction of this wall. Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi said that like you, our goal is to solve the problems of fishermen on priority basis. By solving all the problems, we can not only get the fisheries industry back on its feet. Instead, we can transform it into a profitable industry by building it on modern lines. After which we can succeed in bringing a significant and pleasant change in the lives of fishermen. Inspected small and big launches, auction halls and other areas. The FCS Chairman r told the distinguished guest that according to international standards, the minimum depth of the harbor is 4 meters while the depth of Karachi Fish Harbor is only 2 meters.
