Imran Khan visits New Blue Area, G-10 sector without security,
protocol, reviews city’s uplift work, implementation of Covid-19 SOPs

Zubair Qureshi

The residents of Islamabad Sector G-10 were pleasantly surprised on Monday to find Prime Minister Imran Khan among them as they saw him driving his own vehicle.

They waved to the prime minister who was on a ‘low profile’ visit of the city without any protocol or the official motorcade.

This was the prime minister’s second visit of the city in two months period as last month too, on May 2 he paid a surprise visit to different public places in the capital “without any security and protocol”, his office said.

On Monday, during the visit, the premier also visited New Blue Area site and talked to builders there.

The prime minister took stock of construction work and regarded the New Blue Area to be future of Islamabad’s business and trade.

He inspected business activities, implementation of Covid-19 standard operating procedures and development works.

Pictures and videos shared by the Prime Minister’s Office and lawmakers showed Prime Minister Imran driving himself to different areas of the Sector G-10 and waving to the people.

During the visit, the prime minister also inspected the development of the city, its cleanliness and smooth traffic and appreciated the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration for making Islamabad a place worth-living.

While talking to Pakistan Observer, a number of the residents of Sector G-10/4 expressed their joy at the fact the prime minister visited the area without much security or protocol. My cousin and I were on the motorbike when by chance we saw a vehicle passing by us.

When we looked closely we found the prime minister sitting on the driving seat, said Anwaar, a resident of Sector G-10/4. To his surprise, the prime minister waved to them while driving the vehicle.

“This is how the ruler of an Islamic state should be, walking among the common people without protocol,” said Hassan, another resident of the sector.

He said one might differ with the policies of Imran Khan but we cannot question his preference for a simple, humble life and his deep love and respect for the Prophet Peace be Upon.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying his utmost to make Pakistan exactly on the mode of the “Riasat-e-Madina” and all his efforts are directed towards them, said Amina Bibi while talking to Pakistan Observer.

Like true Muslim ruler he doesn’t pretend and always speaks his heart out, said she perhaps referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent interview to HBO Axios in which the premiere had made it clear that Pakistan would not allow the US to use the Pakistani airbase for any action in Afghanistan.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar also visited the sector prior to the prime minister’s and talked to various low-income shopkeepers and labourers.

She asked them to get registered for Ehsaas Programme in order to avail themselves of its benefits.
