RAWALPINDI – A book highlighting a historic Pakistan Army operation titled “Rescuing the US Rangers” has been officially presented to the public for the first time at the Army Institute of Military History.
A formal ceremony was held in which army veterans, educators, prominent personalities, and members of the public attended in large numbers.
Written by author Sarmad Zia, the book focuses on a key military operation in Mogadishu, Somalia, where Pakistani forces played a significant role in a rescue mission during the early 1990s.

It details the planning, challenges, and success of the operation, along with interviews of Pakistani veterans who participated in the mission.
During the event, several retired soldiers who were part of the operation also shared their experiences and reflections.
The book revisits Pakistan Army’s involvement in Somalia in 1993, when troops helped rescue stranded US Rangers during a critical mission.
