LAHORE – A case has been registered against renowned Qawwal Faraz Khan and his team for performing the popular song “Nak Da Koka” at an event held at Shalamar Bagh or Shalamar Gardens in Lahore.
The performance occurred during a program organized by the Walled City Authority under its “Chandani Ratain” initiative.
The song, originally sung by Pakistani artists Malkoo and Sara Altat, stirred controversy due to its lyrics, particularly a line that references “Qaidi number 804,” widely believed to refer to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail.
According to the police report, the performance was carried out without permission, and the song’s provocative nature caused public unrest, raising concerns over potential threats to public order.
Shalamar Bagh’s in-charge, Zameer-ul-Hassan, filed the case with the Baghbanpura Police under charges of sedition and other serious sections of the law.
The authorities claimed that the performance deliberately sparked public agitation, with the possibility of disturbing peace in the area.
The police have confirmed that legal proceedings are underway as investigations into the incident continue.
