Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, DrKausar Abdullah Malik has expressed satisfaction at the growing momentum of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia suggesting these ties could expand further and diversify in multiple areas of interest.

He was addressing as Chief Guest a reception marking the 78th Anniversary of the Independence and the Armed Forces Day of Indonesia. Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Adam M Tugio had hosted the reception which was attended by a large number of the members of diplomatic community, academia, civil society, parliament and media. Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research DrKausar Abdullah Malik was presented a traditional Indonesian turban and a sash upon his arrival. Vice Admiral Abdul Samad was the Guest of Honor on the occasion.

While highlighting the Indonesian economic strength and its landmark achievements since its independence, DrKausar Abdullah Malik said though Indonesia was only two years older than Pakistan as it achieved independence in 1945 (August 17), yet the country was far ahead in economic growth and business potential. With a diverse economy and exports over US$120 billion that has made the country 24th largest exporter in the world, Indonesia is today a leader in the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He congratulated Ambassador Adam Tugio, his wife and the Indonesian nationals on the historic occasion. It was indeed an event marked by the strong bond of Indonesia-Pakistan friendship. Owing to his friendly nature and strong conviction in growing Indonesia-Pakistan ties, Ambassador Tugio was greeted by a large number of the ASEAN and the Pakistani friends. The fact that he is completing his diplomatic stint in Pakistan next month added extra flair to the feeling of friendliness.

In his welcome address, Adam Tugio highlighted significant achievements of modern and developing Indonesia as the world’s largest democracy, a G-20 member with a trillion dollars economy and its strong commitment to contribute for world peace and security with an inclusive approach.
