Real estate agents in Kabul expressed criticisms over the halt in distribution of land licenses, saying that no land licenses have been distributed by the caretaker government in more than one-and-a-half years.

TOLOnews interviewed several of the real estate agents, who said that no land license has been issued by the caretaker government in Afghanistan. The real estate workers said that despite the lack of land licenses, their business has improved recently.

“Previously, we could get a land license in 20 days to one month, but the land licenses are not being issued now,” said Ataullahulhaq Amini, a real estate business owner.
Some of the real estate professionals said that the halt in distribution of the land licenses has affected their business.

“It has been one and a half years that the land licenses have been halted. The business is good with the issuing of land licenses, the activities of real estate businesspeople has dropped,” said Firoz, a real estate business owner.

“The rate of selling lands and real estate has increased by 50 to 70 percent. During the initial six months of the Islamic Emirate, the prices dropped,” said Ahmad Fawad, a real estate business owner.

This comes as the officials of the Supreme Court said that they have prepared a new procedure for issuing land licenses and that the distribution of land licenses will kick off soon. “After the confirmation of the cabinet, the secretariate of the Supreme Court informed all courts in Afghanistan to form the land licenses … papers based on procedures,” he said.—Tolonews
