RAWALPINDI – A vegetable vendor in Rawalpindi has been arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act.
The case was registered by police under the Sound System Act, which regulates the use of loudspeakers and sound systems to prevent noise pollution.
The incident occurred when Sub-Inspector Waqar of the local police station, while on routine patrol, spotted a Suzuki vehicle in the area of Chontra Village.
The vehicle, equipped with a loudspeaker, was being used by the vendor to sell vegetables. The sound of the speaker was reportedly audible over a large distance, raising concerns about noise disturbance in the residential area.
The vendor, identified as Saddam, was apprehended by the police for the violation. Authorities confirmed that he had not complied with the legal restrictions on sound levels, which are intended to ensure peace and order in public spaces.
As a result, a case was filed against him, and he was taken into custody for further legal action.
The use of loudspeakers for commercial purposes has become a growing concern, and this case is a reminder of the importance of adhering to the laws designed to maintain a peaceful environment.
