RAWALPINDI – The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of agricultural land.
The ban has been imposed across the Rawalpindi district in order to save the agriculture land from housing societies.
Director General of RDA, Kanza Murtaza, has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner to halt the transfer of agricultural land.
The DG stated that the purpose of the ban on the transfer of agricultural land is to protect the green land.
Murtaza further stated that due to increasing construction, agricultural land is decreasing, adding that unplanned constructions are also causing air pollution.
Illegal Housing Societies in Rawalpindi
RDA is a government organization responsible for the development of the garrison city. The authority was established in 1989 to improve, enhance and implement the growth plan for Rawalpindi city. It seeks to be a public-friendly principal planning, development and improvements organization in Rawalpindi city.
It is also empowered to regular planning and development of private housing societies in the region. It issues No Objection Certificates (NOC) for development of schemes after analyzing the documents.
It is mandatory for sponsors to obtain NOC from the competent authority start development work and sale of plots.
However, some of the developers are running illegal housing societies without getting NOC. The authority has shared the list of illegal housing schemes on its official website in order to protect people from fraudulent activities.
