RAWALPINDI – Police have registered a case against a nurse after a 23-day-old baby girl reportedly lost her thumb while receiving treatment at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the case was filed on the complaint of the infant’s father, Qaiser. He stated that when he visited his daughter, Lubaba, in the hospital nursery, he found that her thumb had been severed.
The FIR states that the attending doctor informed the father that the injury had occurred accidentally and that the thumb was cut by nurse Neelum Siddiq.
The complainant further said that the doctor had assured him an inquiry would be conducted and that he would be informed of its findings. However, according to the FIR, he had not received any update at the time the case was registered.
The baby was born at Holy Family Hospital 23 days ago and was later admitted to the hospital’s nursery after experiencing breathing difficulties.
Police have registered the FIR against the nurse, and the matter is under investigation.
