Rawalpindi experienced the coldest day of the winter season as the temperature dropped to 01°C on Friday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Friday night and during the weekend. Freezing weather is expected in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog will likely persist over Punjab, upper Sindh and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Frost is likely to occur at isolated places in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during morning hours.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 0°C and 02°C on Saturday, between -01°C and 01°C on Sunday, and between 0°C and 02°C on Monday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 0°C and 02°C on Saturday, between -01°C and 01°C on Sunday, and between 0°C and 02°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country, while freezing temperatures prevailed in hilly areas. However, 02mm of rain was recorded in Jiwani. Moderate to dense fog prevailed over most districts of Punjab, upper Sindh and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country, where the temperature dropped 14°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Skardu was recorded at -12°C, in Astore at -11°C, in Gupis at -09°C, in Hunza and Kalat at -08°C, and in Gilgit, Bagrote and Kalam at -06°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 55 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 45 per cent.
