Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the SIU successfully apprehended a highly wanted suspect, Sohail Ahmed, associated with the notorious Ahmed Ali Magsi group. The arrest took place in the CheelChowk area of Karachi. Sohail Ahmed, who was a member of the Ahmed Ali Magsi group since 2010, was involved in various criminal activities, including the notorious Sangolin Building torture cell from 2010 to 2014.
During this time, he operated alongside Ahmed Ali Magsi, Nadeem alias Nado, and ShehzadLassi. In 2014, under the direction of Saud Baloch, the suspect was employed as a worker at the Shahi Deluxe Company, an old vegetable market in PIB Colony, controlled by Ahmed Ali Magsi. During the initial interrogation, Sohail Ahmed confessed to his involvement in operating the torture cell in Sangolin Building, Lyari, on the orders of Ahmed Ali Magsi. The victims were brought to the torture cell, where they were tortured and subsequently murdered.
Their bodies were then disposed of in various areas. After the launch of the Lyari Operation, the suspect fled the country to avoid arrest. He returned some time ago and was involved in reviving the construction work under Ahmed Ali Magsi’s supervision. Furthermore, the suspect revealed that he was in direct contact with Ahmed Ali Magsi and was instructed to run a network on his behalf.
He collected extortion money from various sources and sent it to his operatives and the gang commander abroad. The arrests of other associates of the suspect are currently underway. The apprehended suspect was handed over to the police along with the seized illegal weapons, ammunition, and explosive material for further legal action.
