Rains to bring relief in Pakistan on November 4 onward

ISLAMABAD – Rains and gusty winds with snowfall over the mountains are predicted in the upper parts of Pakistan on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Due to the wet spell, temperatures are likely to drop significantly in the next few days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely approach the upper parts of the country on Monday night. It will persist till Wednesday.

Under the influence of this westerly wave, rain-windstorm/thunderstorms with snowfall over mountains are predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Kohat, Galliyat, Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) and Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, Shigar) on Tuesday and Wednesday. Isolated hailstorms are also expected during the period.

Rain-windstorms/thunderstorms are also expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore on Tuesday. Isolated hailstorms are also expected during the period.

Impacts:

Day Temperatures are likely to drop significantly during the wet spell & night temperatures thereafter. Foggy and smoggy conditions are expected to subside during the wet spell and redevelop afterwards. Farmers are advised to manage their activities keeping in view the weather forecast.

Travellers and tourists are advised to schedule their trips, particularly in hilly areas, keeping in view the weather forecast. Windstorms, Hailstorms and lightning may damage loose structures.
