ISLAMABAD – Isolated rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night. Heatwaves will likely prevail in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan during the weekend.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist this week.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will persist in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the weekend. Day temperatures will remain 06 to 08°C above normal in Punjab and Sindh and 04 to 06°C above normal elsewhere in the country. However, rains are likely at isolated places of twin cities, northeastern Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday night.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Saturday and 39-41°C on Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 39-41°C on Saturday and 40-42°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, light rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in the twin cities, Potohar region and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mohenjo-Daro remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 51°C. Maximum temperature in Khairpur and Jacobabad was recorded at 50°C, Rohri, Larkana, Sukkur and Dadu 49°C, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Padidan, Sibbi and DG Khan 48°C, Shaheed Benazir Abad, Bahawalnagar, Kot Addu, Lesbella and Mithi 47°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 55 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 38 per cent.
