Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman and former foreign minister Shah MehmoodQureshi has decided to challenge the Election Tribunal’s decision to reject his nomination papers from his hometown of Multan.
Qureshi will challenge the tribunal’s decision before a larger bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC). Qureshi’s lawyers are preparing to file the challenge in LHC.
The Election Tribunal in Multan had upheld returning officer’s decision to reject Qureshi’s nomination papers for attaching expired stamp papers.
Interestingly, Qureshi’s son Zain Hussain Qureshi and daughter Meharbano Qureshi had been cleared to contest the polls. However, Election Tribunal has cleared PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan to contest elections from NA-23 in Mardan. The Election Appellate Tribunal accepted Ali Muhammad Khan’s nomination papers.
