Quality healthcare in South Punjab top priority

Punjab Specialized Health and Medical Education Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi has said that provision of quality and timely health services to people in South Punjab is the top priority of the government.

“Sardar Fateh Mohammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology (SFMKBIC) Dera Ghazi Khan will be made functional during the next financial year, which will be one of the best treatment centres for heart diseases in the entire Tribal area, including Dera Ghazi Khan.”

Specialized Health and Medical Education Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi inspected the pace of work on Sardar Fateh Mohammad Khan Bazdar Institute of Cardiology in DG Khan and provision of medical facilities at Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan during his visit on Wednesday.

Secretary Health South Punjab Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti, Director General Health South Punjab Dr Khalil Ahmed Sukhani, Principal Ghazi Medical College Prof Dr Muhammad Asif and other officers were also present on the occasion.

Infrastructure Development Authority of the Project Director Mohammad Imran and his team briefed the secretary and said that the 136-bed Sardar Fateh Mohammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology will be completed by April 2022.

The project will cost Rs4.28 billion. Procurement of machinery and equipment gas also been started.

SNE for specialist doctors and other posts has been sent to the concerned authority for approval while 90% infrastructure of Cardiology Institute has been completed. Both the Secretaries directed to expedite the pace of construction work on the project.

Later, Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi and Health Secretary South Punjab also visited Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan where they inspected the various departments and availability of medical facilities, sanitation, Corona Vaccination Centre, Dengue Ward and other matters.

On the occasion, the Secretary Specialized Health and Medical Education said that strict implementation of Corona SOPs should be ensured in hospitals and other places. Facilities should be ensured and anti-dengue activities should be intensified.

The Secretary Health South Punjab on the occasion said that no negligence should be taken in provision of quality medical facilities to the people and the targets should be achieved by speeding up the process of corona vaccination so that normalcy can be restored.
