Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s ambassador to Afghanistan, said in an interview with Iranian media that the Moscow Format meeting was held in a situation where Afghanistan is still an important issue in the foreign policy of the region and the world.

Qomi said that the US and its allies destroyed Afghanistan’s economic infrastructure and security foundations during their presence.

Qomi stated that although the US has withdrawn from Afghanistan, supporting Daesh is one of Washington’s priorities.

According to Qomi, the current government of Afghanistan has tried to fight against drugs and reduce the number of terrorists, but the danger of terrorists and drug trafficking still exists for the country’s neighbors.

According to Iran’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Afghanistan’s neighboring countries have pledged to change Afghanistan’s conditions in a “collective movement” in cooperation with the current government officials of the country.

The fifth meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan at the level of special representatives and senior officials from China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held on September 29, 2023, and ended on Friday.—Tolonews
