KARACHI – As Muslims in Pakistan are gearing up to celebrate Eidul Azha, many are making arrangements for the sacrificial slaughter of animals in honor of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S). Alongside individuals performing the sacrifice themselves, a significant number are hiring professional and non-professional butchers (Qasai) for the task.
With sharp increase in animal prices, rates of butchers also witnessed an uptick this year. Experienced butchers are demanding fees ranging from Rs18,000 to Rs25,000 for cows or bulls, depending on the animal’s weight.
The charges for goats and sheep fall between Rs5,000 and Rs7,000, while camel slaughtering costs are estimated between Rs35,000 and Rs40,000.
Qasai Rates in Pakistan 2025
Animal | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 |
---|---|---|---|
Cow | 25,000 | 20,000 | 15,000 – 18,000 |
Goat/Sheep | 6,000 – 8,000 | 6,000 – 7,000 | 6,000 –5,000 |
Due to the limited availability of skilled butchers during the festival, many residents resort to non-professional butchers who offer lower prices. Their fees typically range from Rs10,000 to Rs14,000 for cows or bulls, with goat and sheep slaughtering costing Rs3,000 to Rs4,000. These rates, however, vary based on customer negotiation.
The rising costs of professional butchers are adding to the financial burden on many families during the festival. With Eidul Adha fast approaching, people are advised to make their arrangements early to avoid last-minute rush and inflated prices.
