RAWALPINDI – Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by 26 runs in the virtual eliminator at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to qualify for PSL X Playoffs.
Chasing a challenging 150-run target for victory in the rain-affected 13-over match, Peshawar Zalmi kept losing wickets at regular intervals and ended up at 123/8.
Daniel Sams was the highest scorer for Zalmi with 26 runs, followed by Ahmed Daniyal, who made 24. Abdul Samad contributed 17 runs, and skipper Babar Azam 16 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures.
Player of the match Salman Mirza bagged four wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi two, while Sikandar Raza and Haris Rauf took one wicket each.
After being asked to bat first by Zalmi skipper Babar Azam, Lahore Qalandars reached 149/8 in the reduced 13-over match due to the delay caused by rain and a wet outfield.
Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer for Qalandars with 60 runs, followed by Mohammad Naeem, who made 22. Asif Ali contributed 18 runs while Kusal Perera made 17 runs. Ahmed Daniyal, Ali Raza and Daniel Sams bagged two wickets each, while Kusal Perera and Haris Rauf were run out.
