PWA organises fund raising event

Patients Welfare Association (PWA), a Dow Medical College student-run NGO based at Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Hospital organized a fundraising event titled ‘Bakesale 2024’.

The bake sale is one of the major annual events of PWA, aimed at raising funds to continue the institution’s charitable activities.The event was graced by Haroon Qasim, MD of Pharma Evo, as the chief guest.

On this occasion, PWA co-founder Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, Board of Governors member Sadiq Sheikh, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Dr. Syed M. Khalid Bukhari, and faculty members from Dow Medical College, officials from Civil Hospital, PWA volunteers, students, and a large number of the public were present.

Chief guest Haroon Qasim commended the volunteers for their tireless efforts and commitment to the cause. Attendees enjoyed a wide variety of food items, handicrafts and played fun games all while contributing to a noble cause.

The event aimed to raise funds for improving healthcare servíces i.e. Blood Transfusion Services and Thalassemia Services provided by PWA. The volunteers of the Patients Welfare Association played a key role in the successful execution of this event,their hard work and performance made the bake sale possible.

Patients Welfare Association is a non-governmental, welfare organization established in Dr.Ruth K.M. Pfau, Chvil Hospital Karachi, managed by the students of Dow Medical College for the past 45 years. It not only ensures the provision of free and screened blood products throughout the Karachi but also provides medicines and blood to its more than 200 registered thalassemia patients free of costChief guest Haroon Qasim commended the volunteers for their tireless efforts and commitment to the cause.
