PU’s 17 professors declared among best 2% researchers world-wide


As many as 17 professors of the University of the Punjab appeared in an update list of top 2% researchers in the world.

This list was issued by a team of scientists, from Stanford University, USA, led by Prof. John loannidis.

The PU professors included in the top global researchers are: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sharif (Mathematics), Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood (Information Management), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram (Mathematics), Prof. Dr. Shahzad Naseem (Solid State Physics), Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Shakoori (Biological Sciences), Dr. Zeeshan Yousaf (Mathematics), Dr. Muhammad Zaeem ul Haq Bhatti (Mathematics), Dr. Nauman Raza (Mathematics), Dr. Muhammad Riaz (Mathematics), Dr. Saira Arshed (Mathematics), Dr. Zahoor H. Farooqui (Chemistry), Dr. Robina Begum (Chemistry), Dr. Muhammad Rizwan (Physical Sciences), Dr. Saira Riaz (Solid State Physics), Dr. Hafiz Azhar All (Entomology), Dr. Arshad Javaid (Plant Pathology) and (Late) Dr. Muhammad Younis (Computer Sciences).

These PU researchers have been selected on the basis of their research papers, citations, h-index and collaboration in research.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has congratulated the professors for achieving this prestigious rank and appreciated their efforts for boosting the ranking of the university.

He mentioned that the present administration has taken several initiatives for improvement of the University’s subject wise and overall ranking among universities.
