Several media outlets reported that the School Education Department is planning to extend the winter holidays till January 8. Despite media reports, and parents’ requests, the provincial government has not shared any official notification about the holidays extension.

Lahore, the country’s second largest city, witnessed a coldest day of the year on Wednesday as temperature plunged with commuters facing trouble on motorways, and flight operations remained badly affected due to dense fog.

Amid the extreme weather condition, parents also demanded to extend the vacation by one week as early January is likely to get even colder as compared to mid-December.

Some private schools have already announced extension in winter vacation and will open from January 8.

Other than the chilly weather, the air quality of Lahore and other cities remained alarming polluted and the metropolis topped the grim charts. Lahore’s AQI soared to 460, 88 times more polluted than the WHO suggested levels.
