ISLAMABAD – Punjab turned every citizen’s mobile phone into live Safe City camera, in a revolutionary step in public safety.
Under the “Safe Punjab” initiative, Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) unveiled a plan that promises faster emergency response and enhanced citizen protection. The ambitious program aimed to instantly share video evidence of serious incidents with authorities, slashing response times and ensuring rapid assistance.
Central to this innovation is new “Connect to PSCA” feature in the Safe City Public Safety App, allowing citizens to link their mobile cameras directly to the Safe City Control Room.
With this feature, any person can now stream live footage of emergencies or critical incidents directly to authorities, enabling real-time assessment of situation. According to PSCA officials, citizens who call the emergency helpline 15 will get special link from Safe City officer. Once opened, the citizen’s mobile camera feeds live directly to the control room, giving authorities an immediate view of the scene and allowing them to take swift action.
Officials stressed that this service is strictly for emergency situations, urging citizens to keep their mobile location turned on to ensure accurate identification of the incident site. They also warned against sharing unnecessary videos, stressing that the feature is designed solely to guarantee timely help and effective intervention.
This bold initiative puts Punjab at the forefront of public safety technology, making every citizen an active participant in real-time emergency response.
