FAISALABAD – The Punjab police have started using body cameras during patrolling and investigations in Faisalabad.

“The police have started testing the cameras provided for the video recording of statements and evidence during the spot checks and investigations,” said the sources.

On a trial basis, they said, 10 Dolphin Force squads and 11 investigation teams have been equipped with these cameras.

The police officials said that this is a progressive initiative in line with modern advancements. The body cameras allow officers to record video footage when searching vehicles or motorcycles.

The police officials stated that the cameras, attached to uniforms, would enhance officers’ performance and provide solid evidence against the criminals, thereby improving the quality of investigations.

“The use will be expanded once the results of the trial phase are evaluated,” said the sources. The first phase involved 21 body cameras.
