Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resource Ansar Majeed said that Punjab government has made record legislation for uplifting the living standard of industrial workers as well as their welfare and safeguarding their rights.
These views were expressed by him while talking to a consultative workshop as a chief guest at Sargodha. Secretary labour Punjab Sara Aslam, Commissioner Sargodha Dr. Farah Masood, DG Labour Welfare Faisal Nisar, officers of concerned departments, brick kilns owners and labour leaders besides large number of students were present on this occasion.
He said that the labour was a backbone in strengthening of economy. Prime Minister Imran Khan and Usman Buzdar were struggling to provide relief to the common man. He said that getting the rights for the labour working on more than ten thousands brick kilns in Punjab was a basic agenda of the government.
The minister said that one pilot project has been launched initially in four districts in 2014 for imparting education to the children of brick kilns labour in Punjab which was getting accomplished successfully.
The government was about to launch the same projects in all the districts of the province. He said that the labour schools were being increased in districts. Legislation has been made for imparting education.
Respect of domestic worker has been ensured by conducting their proper registration. Ansar Majeed further said that Social Security Hospital was under construction in Sargodha whereas development works were being carried out in labour colonies.
Labour Secretary Sara Aslam said that new laws have been implemented beside amending more than seventy labour laws. He said that domestic worker act and registration of the workers will help to safeguard the rights of poor people besides uplift their living standard. He said that a toll-free number service 0800-88889 has been established for providing legal aid.
