Reforms in Punjab Police yielding positive results: Faisal Malik
The Punjab Police have achieved a number of landmark achievements recently by restoring law and order in the country and thus winning public confidence.
Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik expressed these views during a meeting with Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar in his office here in the provincial capital. Mr Faisal Zahid Malik commended the display of professionalism and dedication of the police force and held Punjab being a province with over 120 million population needed foolproof security for smooth progress and the leadership of the police force must deserve all the praise.
The role of police role is very important and today the people’s life and property is safe and they are feeling more secure than ever before, he said. He also congratulated the IGP on receiving the prestigious civil award Hilal-e-Imtiaz, which he said further demonstrated his uprightness.
It may be mentioned here that President Asif Zardari in March this year conferred on IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services, particularly the far-reaching reforms in the police department.
The IGP while welcoming the Chairman of Pakistan Observer in his office briefed him about the working and performance of the Punjab police. The Punjab police is committed to root out terrorism and other heinous crimes from the province.
He also spoke about the wide scale operation against the ‘Kacha’ kidnappers and reaffirmed his resolve to wipe them out.
Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik also lauded the Punjab police chief for the welfare of the police officials and their families.
He also highlighted the role of media as well as the police to root out the social evils and problems. “The role of both media and police are very important,” said Mr. Faisal Zahid adding Pakistan Observer would continue to support the police reforms and operations undertaken by IGP and his team. The IGP praised Pakistan Observer for always upholding national interests and promoting positive journalism and issues of public interest.
Earlier Inspector General of Police presented a memento to Pakistan Observer Chairman and E-in-C Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik. Mr Faisal Malik also presented a copy of Mazameen-e-Quran-e-Hakeem to the IGP.
