Punjab government rolled out one of its biggest student welfare initiatives by announcing distribution of e-bikes, scooties for students. The scheme, introduced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to make transportation easier, safer, and more affordable for students, while also encouraging the use of eco-friendly vehicles.
Female students will get electric bikes completely free of cost, whereas male students will pay a small down payment followed by interest-free monthly installments.
Punjab Electric Bike Scheme
Electric Bike Scheme is initiative designed to help students travel to colleges and universities without facing transportation difficulties. The announcement was made by CM Maryam Nawaz during ceremony in Arifwala, where ten government schools were awarded the status of Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence.
During her address, the Chief Minister also announced several education reforms, including the establishment of Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence in every tehsil, modernization of government schools, and the launch of AI laboratories across Punjab.
Unlike female students, male applicants will contribute a small portion of the bike’s cost. The current payment structure includes down payment of Rs15,000, Monthly installment of around Rs.2,000, and this will be Interest-Free financing. The government said the installment plan has been designed to remain affordable for students.
Who Can Apply?
Age
- At least 18 years old
- Some official descriptions mention an upper age limit of 35 years

- Regularly enrolled in a degree college or university
- Studying at an institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC)
Domicile
