Punjab decides to introduce new Local Government Act

The provincial government of Punjab has decided to introduce a new Local Government Act in the province and the existing ordinance will not be extended.

Secretary for Local Government Department Asad-ur-Rehman Gilani confirmed that a new act will be introduced in Punjab.

He said that the sitting government is trying to solve the problems of the people at their doorstep so the existing Local Government Ordinance will not be extended.

The secretary further stated that the local body elections in Punjab would be held in accordance with the new Local Government Act as these elections will not be held on the given date.
