Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chairing a special meeting on Saturday, ordered timely completion of health projects across the province.
The chief minister approved the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali and a decision was taken to establish the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The meeting was informed that a 268-bed Nawaz Sharif Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology would be established in Gujranwala. A report on the medical college project in Layyah was also presented. The chief minister directed the authorities to take all necessary measures for the early completion of health projects in different cities.
A detailed briefing was given on various health projects during the meeting, including the Nawaz Sharif Medical District, Insti-tute of Cancer Treatment and Research Centre, and Sargodha Cardiology projects.
According to the briefing, the Nawaz Sharif Medical District would have institutes of Infection, Diseases, Plastic Surgery, Genet-ic, Surgical and Orthopaedic Medicine. Children s Hospital-II and the Institute of Ophthalmology would also be established there.
