Punjab Approves 800 New Motorcycles For Dolphin Force

As many 800 new motorcycles will be purchased for the Dolphin Force in seven districts of Punjab, with 400 bikes initially allocated to the Lahore Dolphin Force.

According to officials, the Chief Minister approved the purchase of the new motorcycles on the recommendation of the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The existing organisational structure of the Dolphin Force will also be revised. A proposal has been made to place its administrative affairs under the respective Superintendents of Police (SPs).

The operational affairs of the Dolphin Force would be placed under the respective Station House Officers (SHOs). Dolphin teams will be deployed according to the jurisdiction and requirements of individual police stations.

The respective SHOs will also be responsible for the force’s patrolling and timely response. Officials said several motorcycles currently being used by the Dolphin Force had reached the end of their service life, creating a need for new bikes.

Meanwhile, a proposal to place the Dolphin Force under the administrative control of districts had also been under consideration in recent days.
