Summer vacations 2025: The Punjab government has announced the early summer holidays for schools due to rising temperatures amid heatwave alerts.
Punjab Education Mnister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the summer vacations will start from May 28, adding that the school timings have also been reduced to save students from the effects of heatwave.
Punjab Summer Holidays 2025 New Schedule
As per the new schedule, the summer holidays will start from May 28 and continue till August 9, 2025. A formal notification is yet to be issued.
New School Timings
School timings have been reduced due to the intensity in hot weather. The schools will now open at 7:30am and close at 11:30 am until the summer vacations start.
The development comes as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert regarding the rising temperatures and expected heatwave from May 20 to 24.
Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said alerts have been issued to the departments of school education, health, transport, local government, Rescue 1122, and other concerned departments.
PDMA spokesperson stated that from May 20 to May 24, there is a risk of rising temperatures and a possible heatwave in major cities and plain areas of Punjab.
Balochistan Summer Vacations 2025
Summer holidays have started in hot areas of Balochistan from May 17 with the break ending on July 31 and all schools reopening on August 1 (Friday).
Sindh Summer Holidays 2025
All public and private schools will observe the summer vacations 2025 from June 1 to July 31. Officials have rejected the rumours of early holidays due to hot weather.

Shifting weather patterns and increased frequency of natural disasters have prompted education and health departments to take proactive measures.
