LAHORE –  The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday rejected for being non-maintainable a petition challenging the withdrawal of ‘Bat’ symbol by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Omar Dhillon, the PTI leader, had filed the petition, seeking the restoration of the party’s symbol.

Justice Jawad Hassan took up the case where he deemed the PTI leader’s petition as inadmissible. The court delivered its decision, rejecting Omar Dhillon’s plea.

The development took place a day after the Peshawar High Court (PHC) maintained the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding Bat symbol ahead of the elections.

The legal battle comes in the wake of the Peshawar High Court’s decision to lift the stay on the Election Commission’s ruling made on December 22. The Election Commission’s decision reinstated the symbol that had been withdrawn from PTI.

In response to the decisions of the high courts, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar announced plans to take the matter to the Supreme Court.
