ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have filed a petition with the Election Commission of Pakistan, seeking to halt issuance of notification regarding former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s victory against government candidate Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in Senate election.
Farrukh Habib, Maleeka Bokhari and Kanwal Shauzab have moved the top election body, arguing that the notification should not be issued till the decision on the controversial video of Ali Haider Gillani in which he was giving tips to PTI lawmakers about how to get wasted their Senate votes.
They also gave reference of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s speech in which she allegedly promised of giving tickets in next general elections to lawmakers on giving vote to Yousaf Raza Gillani.
The PTI leader has also asked the ECP to disqualify MPA Ali Haider Gilani over his scandalous video.
The ruling party is in anger since March 3 when Yousaf Raza Gillani routed Hafeez Shaikh, taking lead of five votes cast by members of National Assembly, where PTI and its allies form majority.
