Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) senators on Monday held a rally from Parliament to Supreme Court (SC) in protest against the torture on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Azam Swati.
Several lawmakers including Deputy Chairman Mirza Afridi, Mohsin Aziz, Abdul Qadir and others joined the rally. The participants demanded for justice for Azam Swati and to file a case.
The PTI senators first held a token sit-in as a protest outside the parliament house on Friday. After that they started moving towards the SC building.
The police have shown reluctance to register an FIR of the incident on the complaint of the PTI as Imran Khan wants to nominate Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and a senior intelligence officer Major General Faisal Naseer in conspiracy to kill him.
However, on the intervention of the Supreme Court, the Punjab police on November 7 finally registered the case under terrorism charges, with detained suspect Naveed being nominated as the prime accused. However, the FIR did not nominate the persons named by Imran.
On the occasion, PTI Senator Shehzad Wasim said that Azam Swati is a senior member of this parliament and was subjected to custodian torture, mental torture. He said that Azam Swati is standing outside the Supreme Court with his case, hopefully justice will be done and justice will be seen.
