The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to demonstrate a big show of power in what the party calls ‘historic’ public meeting at the D-Chowk on the eve of the no-trust move.

The PTI is planning the public meeting and a rally on the call of the party chairman Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the local party leadership, this is going to be the ‘mother of all public rallies’ and would send a message to all those who think Imran Khan was losing support.

In a post on social media, Information Minister Fawad Hussain said, Prime Minister Imran Khan believed in direct one-on-one talks with the public and for this purpose he has been addressing different public rallies. However, he said, the Islamabad public meeting is going to be a memorable one.

According to PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed Khan, the Islamabad public meeting would be held a day prior to the No-Trust Move planned by the opposition parties.

As per the directions of Chairman of the PTI, Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PTI chapter in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have started preparations to hold the public gathering at D-Chowk.

A massive public contact campaign has been launched by the PTI local representatives and ex-councilors to ensure the maximum number of the workers on D-Day.

To counter the PTI’s mass-contact campaign, the opposition parties, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have also announced public rallies to show their power on the eve of the no-trust move.

They have given calls to their party workers in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to be ready for coming to the federal capital.

Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) from Rawalpindi and Islamabad a day earlier met Prime Minister Imran Khan who constituted a 4-member committee led by Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar to make arrangements for the public meeting at D-Chowk.

The public meeting will be held a day prior to the voting on the no-trust motion in National Assembly and it was the demand of the local leaders and workers that PTI Chairman Imran Khan should hold a public meeting in the area as he did in Lower Dir and other areas, said a party office-bearer.

On the other hand, the PML-N has also started working to take their workers to the federal capital if the party gives a call. “We are ready and our workers and supporters will reach Islamabad if the party leadership gives a call to gather in front of Parliament House,” said a senior party leader.

A senior leader of the PML-N however clarified the party workers would not be called on the day of the no-trust move but one day after its success. “We don’t want any clash or loss of lives and property that could provide some excuse to the city administration to make it a security or law and order issue and get the no-trust move postponed,” said he.
