PTI files contempt petition against govt over Imran Khan’s hospital transfer

Ihc Five Judges Challenge Supreme Courts Verdict On Judges Transfer Seniority Case

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a contempt of court petition against the government over the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to a hospital for medical examination.

The petition, filed by PTI lawyers Salman Akram Raja and Uzair Bhandari, seeks initiation of contempt proceedings over the alleged violation of the Supreme Court’s August 18, 2026 order concerning Imran Khan’s medical examination.

The petition asks the court to issue show-cause notices to those allegedly responsible for contempt and direct them to appear in person. It also seeks a declaration that the respondents committed contempt of court and appropriate punishment under the law.

The PTI has further requested that Imran Khan be immediately shifted to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for a medical examination.

The petition also urged the Supreme Court to appoint a judicial officer or constitute a local commission to ensure implementation of its order.

According to the petition, the Supreme Court had directed that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination. However, the government instead transferred him to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he underwent a medical examination.

Following the examination, Imran Khan was taken back to Adiala Jail.

The PTI has maintained that the government’s decision to transfer him to PIMS instead of Shifa International Hospital amounted to non-compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions and has asked the court to take action accordingly.
