Fawad pens letter to CEC

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should allot “Lota” as a common electoral symbol to the ruling parties, which were jointly contesting the by-polls in Punjab. Fawad Chaudhry, in his open letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday, said that PTI demanded to give a common electoral symbol “lota” to the ruling parties in the by-elections.

PTI Central Senior Vice President said that Pakistan was facing serious multilateral crisis as a result of a dangerous external conspiracy through which PTI democratically elected government was ousted. Fawad stated that on the one hand, the economy of the country was nose-diving and on the other the country was facing worst constitutional and political crisis.

He said that arch rivals political parties that contested the 2018 general elections against one another were making electoral alliances at the center as well as in the provinces against PTI. Fawad revealed that the campaign was started on March 8, 2022 when a no-confidence motion was tabled against the democratically elected prime minister.

The PTI leader further said that the conspirators staged the drama of horse trading in Sindh House in Islamabad and later 20 such members surfaced in Punjab who offered themselves for sale, resultantly, the commission in its verdict declared the seats of these conscious sellers vacant and issued schedule for holding by-elections. It was state that in the letter said that the PML-N and PPP, which have been promoting shameful culture of horse trading, floor crossing and lottocracy in Punjab, have announced an electoral alliance.
