In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian authorities on Sunday stormed Banihal area of Jammu region with bulldozers and demolished shops and other infrastructure in the name of so-called anti-encroachment campaign.

The authorities have demolished dozens of shops including a medical store, so far. The campaign is going on in the presence of heavy deployed Indian army and paramilitary forces in Banihal Atilla area of Jammu region.

The demolition of shops and other infrastructure forced local population to come out of their houses and staged forceful anti-India demonstrations in the area.

A large number of people participated in a sit-in protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar against the evic-tion drive.

The participants of the sit-in were holding plac-ards in their hands which read “stop bulldozing and stop demolishing houses of poor”.

Similar demonstrations were also held in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and Gole Market in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu.

The protesters sought immediate end to the demolition drive without any delay.—KMS
