A protest rally was held in Muzaffarabad, today, under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir against the killing of a resident of AJK, Zia Mustafa, in a fake encounter by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, Zia Mustafa, a resident of Rawalakot, AJK, had been l

odged in Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail for the last 18 years.

He was taken to Bhatta Durrian area of Poonch district and shot dead by the troops during a so-called cordon and search operation.

The participants of the demonstration holding banners and placards with pictures of Zia Mustafa urged the international human rights organizations to take action against India for its heinous crimes and violation of international laws in IIOJK.

The speakers on the occasion said that the brutal killing of a man, who spent 18 years in prison and endured hardships, instead of being released on completion of his sentence, is a clear sign of Indian government’s fascist behaviour.

They said that Zia Mustafa was a Pakistani prisoner and was enlisted in the International Committee of Red Cross’ international prisoners and despite that his murder is a clear violation of international laws and agreements between Pakistan and India.

They also called upon the United Nations to take action against Indian military personnel involved in the assassination of Zia Mustafa and appealed the government of Pakistan to use diplomatic channels to bring the body of Zia Mustafa to his home and hand it over to his family for proper burial.

Minister for Local Government, AJK, Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, PPP leader, Shaukat Javed Mir, Atiq-ur-Rehman Danish, Maulana Azmat Kashmiri, Hurriyat leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Dr Manzoor Ahmed and Usman Ali Hashim addressed the protesters.—INP
