Pakistan’s three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned home and was expected to rule the country as prime minister for fourth time, however in a surprise move, his party PML-N nominated Shehbaz Sharif as the prime ministerial candidate instead of supremo, sparking widespread debate and gossip.

The situation even draws different reactions from social media users. In an attempt to be funny, ride-hailing service Careem shared a post saying Program Warr Gaya, a politically motivated comment first introduced by outspoken politician Sher Afzal Khan Marwat.

The social media post by the company was later removed, but snapshots of it are widely shared.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML-N also took to the microblogging platform Twitter, sharing two cents by Careem. It said, “This is not the first time they have done this. @CareemPAK is showing its true colors again”.

Nawaz-led party said called pushing political agendas. Shameful.

PML-N even called on people to boycott Careem services and on Wednesday, the hashtag #BoycottCareem appears in top trending sections.

As the satirical post draws heat, Careem shared a video, trying to brush it under the carpet. “Ab har program ko paka karao, ride ko advance main book karao,” it further said.

Internet users also called on Careem to be apolitical as the nation remains polarized amid the politics of hate.
