Probe underway as Hira Mani, Nabeel Qureshi among several celebs attacked, robbed in Karachi


KARACHI – Amid an alarming rise in mugging incidents, Pakistani showbiz stars become the latest target of unruly thugs who stormed a residence, assaulted crew members, and looted the cast.

The incident stunned social media users as famed director Nabeel Qureshi took to Twitter, revealing that the crew of the upcoming project was robbed. He maintained that the female workers faced harassment and crew members, who attempted to save stars, suffered physical assault.

The victim of the latest mugging incident includes Hira Mani, Salman Saquib Sheikh known as Mani, Gul-e-Rana, Nabeel Qureshi and other child artists, who were present at the residence at the time of the incident.

Qureshi said the goons barged into the residence, looted their mobile phones, and camera gear, and managed to escape the scene. A tweet shared on his social media handle stated “we have been attacked by a mob in PIB Colony, Jamshed Quarter Martin Road during the shoot…They got into the house we were shooting a hundred people…The mob beat the crew, stole mobiles, equipment.”

Venting his anger, he said such an incident never happened before to him.

Later, Hira Mani also shared the horror incident in a post on Instagram, calling it a very unfortunate event. She expressed gratitude to the team members who resisted the celebrities.

As other social media stars catch the air of the development, Mahira Khan was the first to respond. Other actors including Ahsan Khan, and Osman Butt slammed authorities for the shocking incident.

Later, Karachi police lodged a complaint and at least 3 suspects have been detained while further proceedings are underway.
