Acting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday said that South Punjab was badly ignored by the previous rulers.
“The previous rulers had diverted funds allocated for development of South Punjab to Lahore and other cities of their choice, adding to problems of people in the region.”
Pervaiz Elahi was talking to a delegation of members of the Punjab Assembly who called on him at Governor’s House here in Lahore.
The acting governor said that the previous rulers had deprived people of South Punjab of their allocated development funds and transferred them to Lahore.
He said peoples’ welfare projects of his government’s tenure for removing deprivations of people of South Punjab were successfully functioning even now.
He said if Almighty Allah provided an opportunity then he would continue the journey of progress without any discrimination for the people of South Punjab.
Delegation of MPAs hailing from South Punjab included Mohammad Shafiq, Asif Majeed, Raees Nabeel Ahmad whereas GM Sikander and former Member Zillah Council Rahim Yar Khan Naeem Shafiq were also present in the meeting.
