ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari is set to leave for Manama today on a four-day official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During his visit, President Zardari will hold meetings with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain. The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
According to a statement from the President’s Secretariat, the visit aims to further strengthen Pakistan’s longstanding cooperation with Bahrain. It will also explore new avenues for collaboration in trade, economic development, defence, security, and people-to-people relations.
Zardari’s visit shows Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with its Gulf partner and promoting regional stability and cooperation.
Pakistan and Bahrain share longstanding and friendly ties, rooted in strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations. Since establishing formal relations after Bahrain’s independence, both countries have maintained close political cooperation, regularly engaging in high-level visits and dialogue.
Economic ties include trade in textiles, machinery, petrochemicals, and investment in banking and infrastructure, while defence and security collaboration spans military training and counterterrorism. People-to-people connections are reinforced by a large Pakistani expatriate community in Bahrain, contributing to sectors like healthcare, education, and engineering.
