ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned suicide blast and firing in Landhi, Karachi.

In his statement, the President commended police’s timely action against the terrorists. He said the timely action of police prevented major casualties.

He expressed the firm commitment to collectively wipe out the terrorists.

The Prime Minister, in his statement, prayed for early recovery of the injured and directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical facilities.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government will foil all nefarious designs to disrupt law and order situation.

The reaction comes after a suicide bombing aimed at a van transporting Japanese autoworkers narrowly missed its target in Karachi.

The incident occurred as the van was en route to an industrial zone where the workers were employed at Pakistan Suzuki Motors.

Despite the explosion, all Japanese nationals on board escaped unharmed.

Police accompanying the van retaliated, neutralizing an accomplice of the suicide bomber.

The attack injured three bystanders. This event adds to a series of incidents targeting foreign workers in Pakistan including Chinese individuals involved in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
